Farmhouse Suite and Garden Room are available on

Airbnb only

The farmhouse has two bookings—two different bedroom arrangements that offer an “old world” style of hosting: you join us for dinner and breakfasts, everything home-cooked, and served around a set table filled with food and conversation and laughter. We may be the only Airbnb/bed and breakfast in the U.S. that specializes in this style of hosting. What our guests (over 2,000 since 2013) have said about the experience: “Like staying with family (the ones you like)” and “Like visiting old friends” and “Healing…and hilarious…and delicious.” The meals are included in the room price, of course. The suite has three rooms (library, bedroom, bathroom, and a bonus walk-in closet) with private entrance and private deck; the Garden Room (just relisted after a four-year closing at Covid) is smaller, serene, and has a private bathroom as well — but it is not adjacent to the room. We’re in our 11th year as Airbnb hosts. When Airbnb introduced its Superhost program in January 2014, Wendy and John were in the first group so recognized and have not missed the honor for 36 consecutive quarters. Earlier this year we were honored to be named in the top 1% of Airbnbs world-wide.

Set for a soup/salad/fresh bread/homemade dessert supper.

Home-cooked dinners and breakfasts are included in the room price.

We’ve hosted over 2,800 people who’ve enjoyed the super comfy bed, beautiful views, quiet nights, fresh home-made bread, soups; locally sourced vegetables; fresh local eggs; artesian spring water; and dinner tables with lots of good conversation and laughter. And wine, and … ice cream with John’s dangerously delicious salted caramel sauce. What’s it like? Many of our guests have said it was like “visiting old friends…staying with the grandparents you wished you’d had...”. “We felt comfortable immediately.”

The suite bedroom is large and and includes a toddler bed (it was Wendy’s; this is the house she grew up in).

The extra room in the suite has an eclectic CD library, dozens and dozens of books spanning centuries of good writing, and all the major streaming services. Did we say we had Starlink, just in case you want to stay connected?

We’ll put a cot in the adjacent reading room for a third family member in your party (extra $). Queen bed has memory-foam mattress. Guests have access to laundry facilities and central living/dining room, deck, and 80 acres of wilderness park.

Our closest neighbors (not visible) are beef ranchers. Ferndale, the small, Victorian-gingerbread town four miles east, has a burgeoning music scene, blacksmiths, a kayak builder, sculptors and artists. Main Street boasts a family-owned, 120-year-old drug store that will work with you if you've forgotten your meds, several fine restaurants and “fast food” local style (no businesses in Ferndale are franchises or national chains).

Enjoy a private deck overlooking the creek and orchard.

Russ Park is a city-owned 106-acre majestic redwood forest within Ferndale’s city limits. It’s pet friendly and features well-maintained hiking trails. Two historic cemeteries are just a couple walking blocks off Main Street. And, of course, there's also Big Nature: the ocean, the redwoods, birding, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, cycling, running, outdoor photography, film-making, fishing, duck hunting; plus Victorian architecture and exceptional regional food, cooking and baking.

“An INCREDIBLE stay with Wendy & John, in their BEAUTIFUL home and property. Really felt like a home away from home. The kindness, generosity, hospitality and divine meals cooked by the hosts were nourishing and heart-warming. Character, charm and serenity are infused in this place and the location to jump off on adventures in all directions was perfect. Sunset at the nearly secluded beach nearby was glorious and expansive. An unforgettable stay, and great way to celebrate turning 40 :-) Thank you Wendy & John!!!”
